Where to Fish – Oklahoma Lakes

There are 34 major Oklahoma lakes that cover 555,450 acres of land. These lakes are owned and operated by the Wildlife Department, cities, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Grand Dam Authority, the Division of State Parks, the U.S. Forest Service, or the Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company.

While these lakes are owned, some of them are open to the public for fishing, these are called department lakes. Department lakes are mainly located throughout the southern and western part of the state, and coming to a total of 16 lakes. At these lakes, camping, limited hunting, fishing, and watchable wildlife opportunities can be found.
